Introduction

We believe in maintaining our property in the best possible condition so that our students can enjoy welcoming and comfortable surroundings in which to learn. This means that most classrooms are carpeted and regularly painted. All rooms have access points to our school intranet and many have computers in them. We are in the process of installing more and more datashows into classrooms so that staff who all have laptop computers, can maximise the benefits of modern technology and the internet. Interactive whiteboards are also being purchased to support the teaching of staff who already have the skills to maximise their potential and teach others.

Computer Rooms

We currently have seven computer rooms in the school in addition to computers in many classrooms and the library. Most of these rooms are bookable by staff to take classes to. Some are used mostly for timetabled classes in computing, design and photography.  We have a computer for almost every two students which is excellent access to support our learning programmes.

Theatre (The Kaipatiki Theatre)

We have a purpose built fully functioning theatre in the school. It is fully set up with a rising stage, tiered seating, lighting gantry, walk-in sound and lighting box, sound system, green room, changing rooms, costume storage and lights. Students involved in productions and performance at our school have the very best facilities to learn in.

Cafeteria

We have a fully serviced sit down cafeteria for students. We can seat about 200 students in this facility and it serves as an excellent gathering and social space for students, especially in the winter.

Technology Block

We opened brand new facilities in July 2008. This block has high visibility throughout to aid safety as most of the internal walls are glass. It has three machine or processing areas for Wood, Metal and Fabrics/Plastics along with theory and design rooms for Wood, Metal and Fabric. There are specialist rooms for Automotive (a fully operational service bay), Boat Building, Fabric, Graphics, Computing, Robotics and Food Technology along with a fully serviced Restaurant area and staff work area.

Student Services Area

Our Student Services are all in one area, in excellent, comfortable, spacious facilities.  Our Health Centre includes a Physiotherapist room and Doctors consulting room as well as a Counselling suite of rooms and a Careers and Gateway suite.  These areas share kitchen and toilet facilities and are located very close to the Deans’ offices.

Library

We have a well stocked library available throughout the school day and beyond to our students. There is a computer hub within the Library for student use. Students are encouraged to use the library beyond the timetabled day as a resource base and work centre. Staff are available several nights after classes to help students with Maths, English and other subjects in the Library.

Gymnasium

We have a large gymnasium with mezzanine viewing area, separate exercise room, weights room and two sets of changing rooms available.

Playing Fields

Our main playing fields are fully drained to provide an excellent, dry surface all year round. PE classes, sports teams and students during school breaks, enjoy the benefits of these all season fields.

Outdoor Courts

We have a large area of asphalted courts for tennis and netball. There are six outdoor basketball hoops on part of this area to cater for the throngs of enthusiastic basketballers.
