Athletics Day Brings Out Team Spirit
Last Friday, the 21st of February was Glenfield College’s annual Athletics Day. Student’s across the college all were dressed to kill, representing their house colours in their best sporty attire. The day wasn’t exclusively for the student’s enjoyment, even the school staff helping out seemed to get a kick out of it.
“I’m having such a good day, really enjoying all the students participating.” – Mr Vanderlaan, teacher
Mr Tod, in-between announcing the day’s sporting events spoke to us
“everybody’s entering into the spirit of the day and giving their best shot or at least giving most of the events a go. It’s been really good and I think everybody’s enjoying themselves.”
Students saw the day not only as a chance to give new sports ago but also for self expression.
“ I like athletics day cause you can show off your athletic talents. I mean you don’t have to be good, but you can have fun. You can express yourself with paints like what I did.” – Rose David
All in all the day was a wonderful excuse for students of all sporting abilities to engage in the activities and bond together whilst at the same time supporting their houses.
