Chinese students visit Glenfield College
On Wednesday 5th December, 100 Chinese students and their mentors spent an hour at Glenfield College. During their time at the school they were shown the technology block, the library, a science lab and our robotics room. The mentors were amazed at the chances our students had to design and build objects for themselves. In China, there are no practical classes at all.
They had come to New Zealand as part of a 500 strong contingent, to take part in the Asia Pacific VEX Robotics Championships. This is the largest robotics competition in the Southern Hemisphere with 143 teams competing from China, Singapore and New Zealand. Our school has three middle school teams and two senior teams competing. The winners in each competition qualify to attend the world championships in Los Angeles in April 2013.
