MPs visit Glenfield College looking for keen students
MP Jonathan Coleman and MP Hone Harawira visited Glenfield College on Friday 15th looking for students interested in a range of opportunities.
Jonathan Coleman spoke to students about applying for the position of Youth MP in the 2013 Youth Parliament. Each Member of Parliament will be selecting a student as their Youth MP for this once every three year event. Entries close on the 20th March, so students must quickly complete their submissions if they are interested. As well as this, 10 NZ students will be chosen to be part of the Youth Press Gallery.
MP Hone Harawira talked to senior Maori students about their dreams and aspirations and offered the chance of work experience in parliament for 2 Maori students. They would spend one week in parliament with Hone attending his appointments with select committees, view the MP and Ministers in the house whilst they sit and learn about the ins and outs of working in parliament.
